Sandcastle Competition

Every year in Imperial Beach a world-class sandcastle competition is held.  People come from all over southern California and it's usually packed.  This year, however, there was a thunderstorm that morning and, not knowing how long it would last, many people who would have to travel long distances were deterred from venturing to the beach.  Lucky for us, it's our closest beach and when we got there the rain had let up and it was a beautiful day.

For the most part Parker and Kate were too enthralled in the giant sandcastles to pose for a picture, but I was able to snap a couple.

Fire Station Tour

Parker's preschool ended in May, but the moms decided that those precious few preschool hours each week were too good to give up, so we decided to do a preschool co-op over the summer.  Here in Mexico, North, we have year-round school, so the summer was only seven weeks long.  We decided to do it just one day a week (Tuesday) for three hours.  There were five moms that participated and we each took one Tuesday to host.  The remaining Tuesdays we went on a fire station tour and had an end of preschool party in the park.  

On my hosting day we learned about the letter P.  We learned about penguins, did a pumpkin craft, practiced patterns, did P.E., and ate pudding and popcorn.  

Here they are practicing making the letter P out of play dough, paper clips, pretzels and poofs.

The kids loved the fire station and the firemen did an amazing job with the kids. 

Appointment #9: The Biopsy

Not a very fun experience.  Even today (two and a half weeks later) my boobs are still a sickly green color from the bruising.  I won't to go into all the details of the drilling and coring, but I will say that lidocaine has a prominent position on my Things Most Loved list.

What they biopsied was a benign adenosis.  In adenosis the little sacs that make breast milk are enlarged and/or there are more than normal.  The radiologist that performed the surgery said it's nothing to worry about, so we're all done with these appointments for now.  Yay!
